Here are the resources and links to help you help your burnout:
1. A guided meditation for parents by Dafna Lender, LCSW on emotional reactivity
Dafna Lender’s guided meditation can help calm your responses to your child and identify what may be coming up for you in tough moments. This is one of Jasmine’s go-to resources in session for parents.
2. Raising Kids with Big Behaviors by Robyn Gobbel
This book is great book to help parents who are raising kids with tricky behaviors to understand the neuroscience of behavior for their child, and also helps them get a better understanding of themself. While the child’s behavior is the focus of some of this book it also does a BEAUTIFUL job talking about what self care looks like for parents who are feeling burnt out.
3. Ep 227: Nothing Works! Are You Burned Out on Tools? from the Baffling Behavior Show Podcast
This episode talks about parent burnout when it feels like nothing is working and you’re frustrated with your child’s therapist! This is a great podcast episode to start with, as Robyn has a whole line up of other episodes in her podcast series.
4. I Love You Rituals by Becky A. Bailey, PhD of Conscious Discipline
It may seem counterintuitive, but adding play to parenting can be a way to reset your nervous system and invite some calm and joy back into what can be really challenging moments. This book gives fun and connective activities to add into you and your child’s routine.
5. Ep 191: Parenting on Empty from the Good Inside with Dr. Becky podcast
Dr. Becky’s Good Inside podcast is wonderful overall, and this episode in particular is especially great for parents who are feeling at their wit’s end.
